Dorothy Durfee, Bieber, Lassen County, California

The next photo album belonging to Esther Durfee has now been scanned. By this time she was Esther Durfee Crews. Photos of many people, sadly no photos of Esther are located in the album. These photos cover the time frame from about 1919 to 1923.

It is believed that most of the photos were taken in Bieber, Lassen County, California. There are of course exceptions to this and they are noted when found.

Today’s photo is of Dorothy Durfee. These was taken about 1921-1923. Dorothy was my great aunt. She was also my favorite aunt!

She later married Carl Rosten. They are both buried in Burney, CA. Dorothy's FindAGrave link is here.

My grandmother, Esther Durfee, was a budding photographer while living as a young woman with her parents in Bieber, Lassen County, California. Her father, Thomas Jefferson Durfee was the postmaster there over many years. When young Esther got her first camera she seemed to have made it her mission to photograph every person within the community, or so it seemed! The first photo album has had all the people who were identified in it, scanned.

Today I would like to introduce you to my aunt, Dorothy Durfee who later married Carl Rosten. Photo taken about 1918 (could have been as late as 1920).
