Beulah Summers Anderson

There are several photos of Beulah within the Autograph Album. I'm combining them into one blog post.

Beulah Eva Summers was born 29 Apr 1900 to James Thomas Summers and Ida Frances Dunlap. She was referred to as Eva in the 1900 census. She had two older siblings, Edna born 1893 and Ray who died before Beulah’s birth.

The first set of photos look to be taken about 1900, then about 1903.

The next photo below looks as though it was taken about 1908.

Beulah appeared in the 1900 census living with her parents in Lassen County, California.[1] On 4 July 1908, her mother died in Reno, Washoe County, Nevada.[2] Her father wasted no time in remarrying! The 1910 census finds Beulah still in her father’s household with his new wife, Hermia. [3]

Beulah married Harmon Cecil Anderson on 5 Aug 1917 (per the family story and this date is also within this little Autograph album).

Harmon C. and Beulah Anderson were living with Harmon’s older brother Raymond Anderson in 1920.[4]

By 1930, Harmon and Beulah had children Bonnie, Hilbert, Marjorie and James.[5] They had moved to Redding where Harmon was working in the mines.

In 1940 we find the same family group now living in Honey Lake, Lassen County, California.[6] Harmon was now a “Power House Fireman” at the lumber mill.

I note the online family trees I see reflect the middle name for Beulah as Ethel. I’ve never found that middle name in the records I’ve seen. I’m wondering if there might be some documentation out there somewhere showing her using that name? Perhaps a social security application? Or a delayed birth record? Or some other record.

Harmon and Beulah are buried in the Lassen Cemetery, Susanville, California.[7],[8]
