My grandmother, Esther Durfee, was a budding photographer while living as a young woman with her parents in Bieber, Lassen County, California. Her father, Thomas Jefferson Durfee was the postmaster there over many years. When young Esther got her first camera she seemed to have made it her mission to photograph every person within the community, or so it seemed! The first photo album has had all the people who were identified in it, scanned.

Grace Durfee, Bieber, Lassen County, California

 Grace went on to marry Fred Wemple in 1922 and then died shortly after having given birth to twin girls in 1923. These photos are all we have of Grace Durfee.
